Unopposed of course:

"Tonight
Friday, December 13, 2002

Is there someone you'd like to reach on the "other side?" It's Friday the 13th, and our guest says she can talk to the dead. Psychic Rosemary Altea joins Larry for the hour and takes your calls."

Don't forget to pick up your steaming ration of stinking bulldokey for the day.

I seldom watch him

In Response To: Patrick, you didn't miss very much (jem)

But Larry was way too easy on her.

I say this because everything that she said, with the exception of, "Thank you, Larry," was unadulterated drivel. But reading the transcript, I'd have to agree that the pace was jarring and he seemed in a rush to get the hell out of there.

But as for the psychic:

Altea only makes sense if you'll believe anything. So if Altea says that the spirits of babies continue to 'grow' and learn to 'talk' after death, you accept that. And if she adds, "But only sometimes,"you accept that also.

And if she says that someone's dearly departed is inexplicably fixated on home improvement, and that she has an invisible friend named Gray Eagle (he's been taking night courses in English) who goes with her onto these shows, then you believe that too. And if she says she can talk to any of the billions of spirits out there at the drop of a hat, you believe it. And if she says that many times she sees them too, you believe it.

And if she says that she is a warrior soul, and that there are thirteen soul signs, and there are five different energy forces which influence us, you believe it. And if she says she can tell you what is going to happen in the future even if the future changes after she tells you, you believe it.

You see, this has nothing to do with, "There are things out there that we might not know about and people were once skeptical of the Earth being round and you skeptics are not very open-minded, etc."

No, what we are talking about here is gullibility on a scale that us normal people (humor) have a hard time fathoming. The kind of gullibility that makes little old ladies sign over their life savings to Rev. Feel-Good. The kind of gullibility that con-men (and women like Altea) depend on for their livelihood. Absolute criminal horse-shit that is as transparent as glass to anyone expect those with the blind desire to believe it.

Larry King wasn't nice? I would like nothing more than for these phonies to be booed off the sound-stage.
