I was raised by fairly agnostic parents who none the less claimed to be christians. I went to a Uniting church high school and became a christian by choice for several years. I decided to read the bible because of all the wonderful stories it contained. I was too impatient to wait for the priest to dish it out one little bit at a time. By the end of genesis I was not a christian any more, too many contradictions to logic, morality and science and I've been an atheist ever since. That was over 20 years ago now.

Despite what many believers have suggested I was an atheist well before Blake, my first child's, death in January 1998. I don't think you'll find many atheists who were made that way by some horrible event in their life driving them away from god, I'm yet to meet one.

I'm a systems engineer (computers) working for a multinational in the local Government offices.
